Summary: Andy comments on The Television Set, a chapter he says is a fabrication combining several events into one person. It concerns an elderly man attending a service for older people with mental illness, where activities such as patting a balloon seem patronising, and looks at identity, the sick role and the idea that a person is defined by who they are being rather than what they are doing.
