Have you had sex with your therapist/trainer? Who was it and what happened afterwards?
I want to hear from you; I want to find out just how common such behaviour is.
I’m interested in hearing from you in the strictest confidence. It appears that when a therapist or trainer has sexual relationships with their trainees or clients, each person thinks that they might be the only one. This is how the therapist/trainer gets away with this for so long, and they often work their way up in status, increasing their reach and influence over other people.
But it is becoming clear that a number of therapists in the alphabet therapy scene exploit their more vulnerable trainees and clients for sexual advantage. I’m not suggesting that they are not gaining consent beforehand, but I know they do employ a number of coercive methods.
Notably:
- selecting the more vulnerable and especially lonely women from the group.
- giving extra attention and “love bombing” them.
- employing manipulative behavioural patterns and psychology learned from NLP and hypnosis.
- alcohol and/or other drugs.
- giving free therapy and further training.
- utilising the power/status differential between trainer/therapist and client/trainee.
- employing “therapeutic methods” that involve a lot of touching of the client.
One individual who has been reported to me by 4 women independently of each other specifically targets married women on his courses because, in his own words, they are less likely to tell anyone afterwards. Another has 6 women who have reported to me that they were pressured into performing BDSM; most rejected this and distanced themselves from the individual.
The problem is that this is often unreported and not discussed; the women invariably blame themselves for being so stupid and, as such, are usually embarrassed and ashamed. Legally, it is a problem because of the grey areas of coercive control and manipulation, which can be very hard to prove when consent is demonstratable.
It will be useful to identify who these predatory individuals are.
