****NEW*****

If you have IBS, you must learn about FODMAP and stick to it 100% for t least 6 weeks before bothering with any form of psychological therapy. If you have not heard of FODMAP, google it, there are loads of really useful blogs and websites that will tell you what you need to know. You need to do it completely though, not just try it for a bit.

High FOD = Bad

Low FODMAP = good.

Professional Hypnotherapy and NLP - Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Irritable bowel syndrome is a disorder characterized most commonly by cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, and diarrhoea. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a “syndrome” meaning a group of symptoms. Irritable bowel syndrome is understood as disorder with many aspects. Irritable bowel syndrome may be a life-long chronic condition, but symptoms can often be improved or relieved through treatment. Irritable bowel syndrome does not lead to more serious diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease or cancer. Irritable Bowel Syndrome causes a great deal of discomfort and distress, but it does not permanently harm the intestines and does not lead to intestinal bleeding or to any serious disease. Irritable bowel syndrome is a painful and frequently frustrating disorder of the intestines that is often beleived to be difficult to treat.

Researchers have yet to discover any specific cause for IBS. However, researchers have found that women with IBS may have more symptoms during their menstrual periods, suggesting that reproductive hormones can worsen IBS problems.

Treatment trials are confounded by a placebo effect as high as 71%, suggesting a significant unconscious psychological involvement. Antidepressants, even in lower doses than are used for treating depression, can help people with IBS, suggesting that treatment with NLP and clinical hypnotherapy can bring significant reduction in both the severity and frequency of IBS symptoms.
