Weight Loss and Successful Slimming
New! My own weight loss blog here
(opens in new window)
Obesity is big news at the moment with childhood obesity at an all time high and sales of "ready meals" exceeding all healthy proportions, the experts are telling us all to lose weight and start exercising NOW!
Just great, isn't it!?
You know what to do, but "feeling" to do it is another matter entirely.
So what does the desperate overweight person do?
They go and see a hypnotherapist who promises miracles.
What happens?
The client turns up, the hypnotherapist talks the talk, the client sits pretending to be in a trance for 50 minutes whilst the therapist talks at them.
For 50 minutes the client typically does not move or say anything because the hypnotherapist seems so nice that it would be a shame to disappoint him/her. So they sit and pretend to be in a trance. Then the client pays the money, heads home and eats the cake they've been craving since they left the house!
Want to try something different?
Download a 16 page .pdf file entitled, "Being Overweight - More Than Just a Dietary Problem" written by Andrew T. Austin outlining many of the psychological patterns and issues that usually go unaddressed in hypnotherapy and NLP sessions.
This file is suitable for both therapists wishing to know more about effective therapy for psychological issues in obesity and for clients wanting to know more about what effective treatment for chronic obesity involves.

So who are commonly treated most successfully:
Yo-yo dieters
Yo-yo dieters will try dieting successfully only to find the weight goes back on and yet another diet is required. Unfortunately their baseline weight level tends to increase over time.
The Depressed Overeater
The depressed overeater will have other issues
of which they may, or may not be aware. Their common response to stress, unhappiness, loneliness etc. is to turn to comfort food.
The I-Know-I'll-Hate-Myself-Afterwards Eater
This is the problem where the compulsion to eat that cake, packet of biscuits or whatever is so strong, but once eaten the craving is replaced by a feeling of self-loathing and self-berating. The cycle repeats often and commonly results in a sense of helplessness regarding food cravings and compulsions.
Who should attend:
- People who are "clinically obese" or severely overweight.
- People who have tried and failed at dieting.
- All "yo-yo" dieters.
- Comfort eaters.
- Depressed eaters.
You will learn:
-
The language and self hypnotic patterns of the problem eater
-
The neurology of overeating and desire
-
Patterns of compulsion and how to reduce them
-
Changing the underlying motive and "deep rooted" patterns of behaviour
- Getting motivated and sustaining motivation.
Alternatively, you may just need an complete life overhaul.
